A Toast to our Work Placement Hosts!

 

This month has seen the Southern Region BEC celebrate the invaluable contribution local businesses have given their local Senior High School students through the Workplace Learning Program.

These businesses have volunteered their time and skill sets, as well as those of their employees, by hosting students for a minimum of 35 hours each in their workplace.

These students are studying a Vocational Education Training course as part of their HSC studies with work placement a mandatory component of their successful completion.

Whilst the contribution of all businesses to the workplace learning program is greatly appreciated by the Southern Region BEC, local High Schools and the greater community, the tireless efforts of businesses who have hosted in excess of 20 work placements were invited to a Presentation Ceremony held by the Southern Region BEC to receive their Award of Appreciation.

Attended by delegates from the NSW Department of Education, Principals and representatives from the local High Schools, our local Mayors and members of the Southern Region BEC, award recipients were treated to a beautifully catered afternoon tea served by Queanbeyan High School students studying Hospitality as their HSC VET course.

Our Award Recipients are from a variety of industries including Hospitality, Construction, Information & Digital Technology, Business Services and Age Care.

18 businesses from over 300 hosts within the Queanbeyan Region met the award criteria.
