03 Jan Education Programs 2024 Achievements
The Education Team have had a busy year. Our Work Placement Program (WPP) coordinated placements for 15 schools across the Southern Tablelands, Yass Valley, Queanbeyan Palerang, and the Snowy Monaro Region. This year, we saw an overall increase in work placements across our region (region I), resulting in the induction of 87 new hosts.
In 2024, placements in the entertainment industry surged by 200%, while childcare placements experienced a 100% increase. Additionally, work placements in the fitness sector rose by 40%, and we expect further growth in this area for 2025. The rising demand for healthy lifestyles will see more schools offering sports coaching, bringing new talent into this industry.
Shown below is a table highlighting VET training trends across our region.

The Get Back in the Game (GBIG) team has kicked off 2024 with amazing momentum, supporting young people across the region in meaningful and impactful ways. So far this year, we’ve welcomed 363 new enrolments, including 109 Aboriginal participants. These enrolments have contributed to 596 total engagements, with 57% of our clients entering VET or training programs and 18% securing employment.
Our support extends far beyond enrolments. The GBIG team has assisted clients with essential tasks like creating resumes, obtaining USIs and TFNs, setting up MyGov and bank accounts, securing birth certificates, and helping them get their driver’s license. These steps may seem small, but they’re crucial milestones that help young people build a solid foundation for their future.

Investing directly in our clients’ needs has been a priority this year. We’ve allocated resources to help them obtain learner’s licenses, cover training costs, purchase clothing and PPE, and access driving lessons or other transportation. We’ve also ensured that clients can secure identification documents and, when necessary, provided phones and computers to support their journey.
Through these efforts, the GBIG team is making a tangible difference, empowering young people to take control of their futures and succeed. Here’s to an even more impactful year ahead!
