5 Keys to a Great Business Instagram Account in 2024

It’s no secret that Instagram is more important for businesses than ever before. But Instagram has changed a lot over the last 2-3 years, and if your business isn’t keeping up, it’ll be left behind.

The best businesses on Instagram right now engage their audience first, then sell second. They show, rather than tell.

Here’s Edwin’s 5 keys to unlocking your Instagram account in 2024:

  1. Community: Having an engaged community of superfans is so important. Think about daily engagement with your audience – like and comment on your followers’ posts, reply to Stories and follow new accounts. Don’t forget about using Stories too!
  2. Authenticity: Remember that people want to follow people, so make sure you show the people behind your business. Show your businesses personality and the real you. Be yourself.
  3. Low fi or “Ugly” Content: The best trend happening on Instagram right now is the rise of low-fi or ugly content. Low fi content is essentially content that’s filmed on a phone with limited editing and filters. Audiences want real and authentic (see #2), not perfect and polished. So, grab your phone and start filming!
  4. The 80/20 Rule: No one wants to be sold stuff all the time. That’s why I use the 80/20 rule. That means 8/10 posts are designed for engagement purposes. Those 8 posts should inspire, educate or entertain. Then 2/10 posts are designed to sell or promote the business.
  5. Using Reels: Reels are the most feature on Instagram right now. Reels are short videos under 90 seconds long, but ideally from 5-20 seconds long. Reels are what audiences like to watch and can help expose your page to a new audience.
