14 Mar Free waste assessments under CRJO Bin Trim project
The CRJO Bin Trim Networks Program aims to divert approximately 35,000 tonnes of waste from landfill each year by helping small and medium sized businesses reduce their waste and implement circular economy solutions.
CRJO is offering 100 businesses a free waste assessment during 2025 across the Canberra Region. This will help the wider region to understand the scale of business waste and work with businesses to source more circular pathways for key waste streams including food waste/organics, plastics, and textiles.
This project aims to avoid, reuse, reduce, and recover the amount of waste going to landfill by establishing circular business networks across three sectors, including the:
- Healthcare sector: regional hospitals, smaller medical centres, aged-care facilities and early learning centres
- The Charitable sector: reuse and op-shops
- Regional clubs
The program includes supporting businesses to apply for equipment rebates that contribute to the purchase or leasing of equipment and technologies that reduce, reuse or recycle their waste.

The EPA’s popular Bin Trim Program has already enabled more than 38,000 businesses to help the environment and save money by diverting more than 260,000 tonnes of waste from landfill. The Canberra Region Joint Organisation (CRJO) Bin Trim Networks project is funded under the NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA) Program.
