Braidwood Botanicals, founded by Catherine Jewell, has been working with Enterprise Plus Business Advisor Lisa LaMaitre since March 2024. Initially exploring a consulting business leveraging her corporate expertise, Catherine ultimately decided to focus on her passion for agribusiness. Lisa provided strategic guidance on business models, financial management, branding, and marketing to support Catherine in this transition.
In July 2024, Catherine returned to the corporate sector to accelerate funding for her agribusiness vision. By January 2025, her dedication was recognised when she was named one of seven recipients of the AgriFutures Australia Rural Women’s Acceleration Grant. The grant enabled Catherine to explore small-scale, sustainable orris root farming in Braidwood. Orris root, valued in perfumery and artisanal gin, has limited commercial production in Australia, making her venture a pioneering effort in the industry.
