Youth Futures – Education Team

Under the Work Placement Program, Enterprise Plus have been pairing senior high school students with local employers throughout Queanbeyan, Braidwood, Yass, Goulburn, Crookwell, Cooma, Jindabyne and Bombala for over 20 years.

The Work Placement Program coordinates the mandatory work placements which senior high school students are required to complete when they are studying a Vocational Education & Training (VET) course towards their HSC.

We are part of a network with 15 other likeminded providers who work across the entire state to arrange approximately 60, 000 work placements annually. This network has recently re-branded, from the Workplace Learning Network to the Youth Futures Network. Our mission as a network is to collaborate and commit to improving career opportunities and employment experiences for young people in NSW.

To the end of June this year, the network has coordinated 22,048 work placements for students from across the Government, Catholic and Independent school sectors. 3115 local employers have hosted students and 2621 of these organisations are SMEs.

The Work Placement Program provides students with the opportunity to gain industry and employability skills as well as on-the-job experience for their potential future career path.

Businesses and industry leaders who volunteer to host students under the program are widely recognised for supporting local youth and giving back to their community. They are sharing industry skills, knowledge and passion and contributing to their industry’s relevance for future employment.

Under the program, host employers are also able to trial students’ suitability for current or future employment and inspire students to stay on track on their path from school to work.
