Supported by Business Advisor Karen Dempster
Business Advisor Karen Dempster has been working with Robyn Turner of Mirrool Cottage since April 2024. Initially, Robyn sought support through the Service NSW Business Connect program to grow her gourmet food business, which specialises in artisan crackers, bark breads, jams, relishes, and condiments crafted from locally sourced ingredients.
Karen worked closely with Robyn to explore new opportunities for expanding Mirrool Cottage’s distribution, increasing its product range, and reaching new wholesale markets. Their collaboration focused on broadening retail channels, refining direct marketing tactics, including CRM systems, personalised introductions, and product sampling and strengthening brand positioning.
By Christmas 2024, Mirrool Cottage experienced a 33% increase in sales compared to the previous holiday season, thanks to new retail partnerships and an expanded product offering. Additionally, Robyn has recently been commissioned to create a specialty range for a local business, incorporating their signature ingredients. This custom line will feature in 2,000 gift hampers significantly boosting revenue in early 2025.
Looking ahead, Karen and Robyn are working on further opportunities, including developing an online sales platform, enhancing face-to-face sales strategies, and leveraging social media to expand Mirrool Cottage’s reach.
